Wright State University tuba/euph undergrad/grad openings

Post by Lukowicz »

I am currently accepting admission applications for the Fall 2014 school year. I have openings for tuba and euphonium at the undergraduate and graduate level. Students that are unable to make the drive to audition on campus, can be accepted via MP3 or CD.

Graduate Teaching Assistant:

We have just been authorized to recruit an addition GTA for this coming year. The possibility of a GTA increases greatly if you have an interest in Music Education or Pep Band. The GTA stipend is around $8,000 plus full tuition remission.

About Wright State:

The WSU tuba/euph studio hosts the annual Dayton TubaChristmas every December, as well as plays host to guest artists. Last year we hosted Carol Jantsch (Philadelphia), this year Don Harry (Buffalo) will be joining us.

We have studio class twice a week with focus on ensemble repertoire and solos. The studio currently has 5 tubas and 6 euphonium students. In addition to the tuba/euph studio, I also conduct the WSU Brass Ensemble. The each group will perform in concert three times this year.

Wright State University is located in Dayton, Ohio, about an hour north of Cincinnati. Yearly tuition is currently set at $8,542. We offer scholarships on the basis of academic and musical merit. There are guaranteed scholarships for students that meet certain academic criteria.

About me:

I currently play in the Canton Symphony and the Chamber Orchestra of New York. Recently, I have been a finalist at the Langley Air Force Base tuba audition, as well as a semi-finalist for the Montreal and Lyric Opera of Chicago tuba auditions. This past year I presented a lecture on audition preparation at NERTEC hosted at Ithaca College, and performed a solo and chamber recital (Pittsburgh Tuba Project) at MWRTEC hosted at Illinois State University.
