West Virginia Symphony

Post by Aubrey Foard »

Hi Everyone,

Just a heads-up that I have ended my employment with the West Virginia Symphony due to other musical obligations. There will be an audition posted in the International Musician for March.

As many members of TubeNet can testify, this is a really wonderful orchestra and a fine group of people. The orchestra performs at the 10-year old Clay Center in a very good acoustical setting. Charleston is a beautiful town and has a lot of fun things to do, but you don't necessarily have to relocate to perform with the WVSO: they provide mileage reimbursement and housing. I highly encourage anybody who's interested to apply for the position once the ad has been published.

Happy Auditioning,
Aubrey Foard

And what about Chattanooga? Isn't Derek leaving there as well?

Crazy - I've been watching their site for awhile. Should have looked one more time, I suppose.

Good luck to everyone auditioning this weekend. I have had the pleasure of serving as acting principal with the WVSO for the past two years. I have nothing but good things to say about the orchestra. Whoever wins this position is walking into a good situation. The ensemble plays well, the trombone section is a great group of guys, and there is a very positive environment in the orchestra. I won't be taking the audition because of the obligations of my position at IUP. I wish you all the best and look forward to seeing who the next tubist will be with the WVSO.

Seth Horner won the spot. Myself and Yukitada Onitsuka were the finalists/runner ups.

Congrats to Seth for winning the job! Well-deserved!
