Auditions for 2014-2015 Chicago Brass Band

The Chicago Brass Band will be hosting auditions for the 2014-2015 season for any musician performing on traditional brass band instruments, including cornet (Bb and Eb), flugelhorn, tenor horn, euphonium, baritone, trombone, bass trombone, tuba (BBb and EEb) and percussion. All low brass except for bass trombone be advised reading in treble clef is standard practice in brass bands.

The Chicago Brass Band rehearses on Thursday nights from 7:00p to 9:30p and on occasional Mondays and Saturdays during competition and concert season. In the last few years, we have traveled to the World Brass Band Championships, the Whit Friday Marches, the Great American Brass Band Festival, and the Vintage Band Festival. The band competes annually at the North American Brass Band Association Championships. Guest Soloists in the last several years have included Rex Richardson, Jens Lindemann, Chris Martin, Gene Pokorny, Charlie Vernon, Mark Ridenour, and Robbert Vos.

Audition Requirements for BRASS include:
- the IMEA audition scale sheet
- a slow melody/lyrical work (2-2.5 minutes)
- a technical work (2-2.5 minutes)

Audition Requirements for PERCUSSION include:
- a timpani solo (2-2.5 minutes)
- a snare solo (2-2.5 minutes)
- a keyboard percussion solo (2-2.5 minutes)

Auditions will be held on Wednesday, August 20 and Thursday, August 21 from 6:30p to 9:30p at Park Jr High School, 325 N. Park Rd. La Grange Park, Illinois 60526

Hey Folks,

We really are in need of some BBb basses for this upcoming season. Wednesday night auditions are pretty packed and Thursday night 8/21 has some more space. If those 2 dates do not work, again please email the MD at director@chicagobrassband.org" target="_blank to arrange a time to play for him.

We have a great season coming up especially with the NABBA Championships happening during Mid-March / Early April in Fort Wayne, IN for the next 2 years.

If the timing for full time membership is going to be difficult at the moment, let me know if you'd like to sit in on a rehearsal or two after we start-up. We would like to expand out the tuba sub list even more.
