I posted this on facebook, but I would also like to share it here regarding the Northern Iowa tuba/euphonium position:

Since we got an email today at school saying that it is official, I can now say that I am very happy to welcome Jesse Orth to the University of Northern Iowa as the instructor for tuba and euphonium for the next 3 semesters beginning in January.

I was humbled, surprised and shocked at the incredibly impressive and large pool of candidates who applied for the position. There were many wonderful artist/teachers who could have done a great job. There are many amazing tuba and euphonium artists now available for positions such as this.

I am confident that Jesse will be an incredibly successful artist/teacher here at UNI and I am excited for the opportunity to work with him.

Congrats Jesse!!

Texas A&M University-Kingsville just got an approval for a new $60 million building. Plus, the students and faculty there are fantastic. If you can handle the hot weather, it's a great place to be.

Im not sure of the details yet but if everything's sticks to how it has been said, Ithaca (NY) may be looking for a full time there. So if anyone is interested, be on the lookout for that. Justin Benavidez is only signed on for a year from what I have been hearing

Anyone know what the heck this is about? I read that this is a "new" school that is being formed by combining two existing universities. One of them already has a Tuba/Euph teacher at the Assistant Professor level. Why would they hire a 9-month lecturer for this position when someone is already there?
