Brass Quintet Graduate Assistantships Trumpet and Tuba

The University of New Mexico Department of Music announces openings for
Brass Quintet Graduate Assistantships in Trumpet and Tuba, beginning the
2015-16 academic year.

Duties: include performing with the UNM Graduate Brass Quintet, the UNM
Wind Symphony, and the UNM Orchestra as needed. The assistantships are
established to provide professional training in the preparation and performance of
quintet literature, musical arranging, concert marketing, and the development of
educational and social outreach concerts. Professional training in small
ensemble performance is balanced with large ensemble performance in the UNM
Wind Symphony and students will also perform in the UNM Symphony Orchestra
as needed to complete their experience. The quintet receives regular instruction
by members of the brass faculty. Quintet members are expected to provide
exemplary leadership in the Department of Music.

Stipend: These are two-year (four-semester) half-assistantships, with total
workload of 10 hours per week. Contract is by semester, but renewable if work is
satisfactory. The stipend is approximately $6296 per academic year, in addition
to a waiver of tuition (exclusive of special course fees) for up to 6 credits per
semester (does not apply to summer tuition). Any additional hours, including
summer coursework, can be taken at the resident tuition rate.

Start: Fall, 2015
Application Info: Submit pre-screen recording by January 1, 2015. All other
materials, including the Graduate Financial Application Form, the online
application form, fee and all supplemental application materials, are due by
February 1. In addition to other application materials, applicants for brass
assistantships should submit to the Graduate Coordinator a current resume, a
repertoire list of solo works performed and a letter of interest indicating the
particular assistantship the student is seeking.

BUMP for Richard White at UNM!

He's a great teacher and player! You will not regret getting to study with him. I'm hoping one of my students will get this slot, so apply soon!
