Open auditions for Curtis SummerFest student summer program

Post by Craig Knox »

The Curtis Institute of Music now runs a summer program called SummerFest, which includes an orchestral training program for students 14-22 years in age (Young Artist Summer Program). It is open to all applicants. The program this summer runs three weeks from July19-August 8, and includes lessons, masterclasses and sectionals, chamber music and orchestra. The program takes place in the school's beautiful Philadelphia campus; lodging is available in the school's brand new dormitories.

Brass students will work with the following faculty:

Craig Knox, tuba
Matthew Vaughan, Weston Sprott, David Murray, trombones
David Bilger, Anthony Prisk, Nathaniel Hepler, trumpets
Jennifer Montone, Ellen Dinwiddie, horns

Give me a break!

The application process is simple, and includes a very basic on-line audition submission. However, the deadline is approaching next week, so check it out right away!

You will notice there is a hefty pricetag; furthermore, the website states that the application process for financial aid is now closed. However, I have been advised by the program coordinator that financial aid has been set aside for brass students, and that serious applicants should contact the office directly to request to be considered for financial assistance.
