Steve-
With all due respect, this is quite arrogant. Yes, the Chicago Brass Band accomplished their goal but when you send a message "NABBA Results" let's see them, not just a few winners. Putting second place ONLY when a CBB ensemble is there adds to the arrogance. When you win a competiton (yes, I have been there), the key thing is to be gracious to your competition - there were thirty other bands that worked their asses off just as much as you. What about other bands in the Championship, Honor's, Challenge and Youth divisions? I am sure there was some noteworthy playing there.
I would suggest that you get a big sense of humility before doing the Netherlands thing! Guess this is why music and sex should be non competitive sports.

The intent was certainly not to slight any of thebrianf wrote:Yes, the Chicago Brass Band accomplished their goal but when you send a message "NABBA Results" let's see them, not just a few winners.
other excellent participant bands, and I apologize
that my post came across in that fashion. I posted
all of the results that I could remember, and will add to this TubeNet post
the acknowledgement of Brass Band of Central
Florida, who came in second with a fine performance in the Championship Section.
I have not seen a composite of all the bands' scores.
For more information, please visit http://www.nabba2004.com
and/or http://www.nabba.org, where the complete standings
will undoubtedly be posted eventually.

Thanks for the full results Steve.
I also must say that I heard your group play in the ensemble category, that was quite nice.
My hat also goes off to Charleston, WV. What a nice small town. In addition, they actually have a fantastic, state-of-the-art concert hall with excellent acoustics. We only got a chance to rehearse in there, what a shame. The other venue was not even close, in fact a little disappointing.
To all of you Tubenet folk who were there, hats off to you and your groups for all of your hard work!
By the way, it was great to win in our section (NEBB, Challenger), even if it was my first year in the group. Where does it go from here?

Thank you!Matthew Gilchrest wrote:I heard your group play in the ensemble category, that was quite nice.
The friendly people of Charleston are blessed with the Clay Center, which is a gorgeous venue for performers and audience alike. My hat also goes off to Charleston, WV. What a nice small town. In addition, they actually have a fantastic, state-of-the-art concert hall with excellent acoustics.
The volunteers from Brass Band of the Tri-State and Mountain State Brass Band did a fantastic job of hosting the NABBA Competition. They even made sure that the weather was beautiful!
That's probably up to Doug Yeo and the NEBB Board. NEBB can compete again next year in the Challenge Section. NABBA rules state that after winning a Section a certain number of years in a row (I can't remember if it's 2 or 3), a band is required to enter the next higher Section in the following year. Doug has stated on this forum and elsewhere that the "competition" is not the main focus for NEBB, but I'm sure that he's very interested in the musical growth of your fine organization. Well done, and good luck for the future!By the way, it was great to win in our section (NEBB, Challenger), even if it was my first year in the group. Where does it go from here?

Re: Here Are the Scores
After they had submitted their original player line-up, Atlantic Brass Band made a roster change and did not give NABBA at least 10 days notice.wnazzaro wrote:Could you tell us what happened to the Atlantic BB? Why were they disqualified?

A big problem with the net is when to post something immediately and when to wait. For example, a few years ago I had a chance meeting with a major symphony player at an airport where he told me he was going to retire. Hot news, especially for those on the audition circuit. For me to broadcast it would have kept this person from departing his own way. A few weeks later someone posted about this and the person was deprived of announcing it personally. They should have sat on it!
Unlike orchestral auditions, NABBA results are posted. There should only be one post, the official final results, not just a few results and especially
not biased for one band. It deprives all those who took part from getting
recognition.
In the future only the full, official results should be posted even if it takes an extra day.
Thanks for getting them up Steve!
