Hello Tubenet,

I am re-posting this following the development that I will be staying at UT-Knoxville after this year as assistant professor of tuba and euphonium:

There are openings at the undergraduate and master's levels for tubists and euphoniumists at the University of Tennessee school of music. UTK-the host school for ITEC 2016, is an exciting university in a lovely town with a great music culture. There is a lot of helpful general information for interested students here:

Beyond the openings, there is an assistantship open for an MM tuba or euphonium student available in Fall 2016. This award includes full tuition and a stipend, plus medical coverage. Duties include assisting in studio activities, which covers a lot of territory, including assisting with rep classes, chamber music and the UT Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble, etc. Specific information is here:

There are also assistantships available in wind conducting, music education and theory, among others. You can explore the assistantships here:

And as the past six years have had me working pretty far from the southeast US, for anyone who would like to get to know some of my teaching and performing, feel free to explore my youtube page:

Please email me at alapins@utk.edu" target="_blank with any questions!
