Posting Text: Full-time, nine month, term position. One academic year only in anticipation of a national search for tenure track Assistant Professor.
Direct Symphonic and Athletic Bands (Marching Band and Pep Band) and teach studio low brass (trombone, euphonium, tuba). Other duties may include: teaching courses in the music education curriculum such as marching band techniques, basic and/or advanced instrumental conducting, manage all operational aspects of the bands, including travel, scholarship management, and recruitment, coordinate the annual marching band competition, and supervise independent study projects as appropriate to appointee's qualifications and departmental needs. Excellence in teaching is expected -- both in the classroom and in mentoring students outside the classroom. Participation in Inclusive Excellence by undertaking outreach to diverse communities (multicultural student organizations, Native American community, GLBTIQ community, Latino community, veterans, women, etc.) on and off campus is encouraged. Appointment begins August 22, 2016.
Doctorate in low brass performance, instrumental conducting, or music education required, ABD considered. Candidates must clearly demonstrate a successful track record in leading marching band, concert band, and low brass performance. Previous teaching experience preferred. Experience with music education programs desirable.
