Tuba/Euphonium Auditions at Central Washington University

Post by DavidMcLemore »

Hello Tubenet,

Just a quick reminder that the CWU tuba-euphonium studio has several openings for the upcoming 2016-17 school year! There are openings for undergraduate tuba and euphonium students, with auditions to be held this coming January.

The tuba-euphonium studio at Central is comprised of students in a variety of degree programs and concentrations, including music performance, education, and composition. We currently stand at 10 tubas and 7 euphoniums; each student receives an hour lesson each week, as well as the opportunity to perform in weekly studio classes for their colleagues and with the tuba-euphonium ensemble. The studio is also active as an academic club on campus. CWU offers numerous large ensemble performance opportunities, including the CWU Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds and Symphonic Band, as well as the CWU Orchestra.

To audition for the music program at CWU, you must first apply and be accepted into Central Washington University, which you can do at the following link:

After this, you may register for a music audition online at the link below:

Music auditions will be held in two locations in mid-January. On January 14th-15th auditions will be held on the CWU campus in Ellensburg; on Saturday January 16th auditions will be held in the Seattle area at the Des Moines CWU Campus (Highline Community College). Recommendations, while not required, are strongly encouraged and should be completed before or at the time of your audition.
