Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate tuba and euphonium students. Actively engage in recruiting and maintaining a successful studio. Participate in other teaching activities as needed. Maintain professional career as a performing artist. Serve on doctoral and master's committees, and participate in university and professional service appropriate to the rank.
Qualifications
Proven artistry as a performer with a strong commitment to the recruitment of outstanding students and a record of successful teaching. Demonstrated ability to maintain a high-quality studio and work effectively with diverse populations of students and faculty. Doctoral degree or equivalent performance/teaching experience.

Qualifications: Grand Valley State University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position in tuba and euphonium in the Department of Music and Dance beginning on August 6, 2017. The successful candidate must demonstrate proven artistry as a performer with excellent solo and collaborative performance skills along with the ability to teach effectively at the university level in the area of individual tuba and euphonium studio instruction. The successful candidate must exhibit the capacity and willingness to recruit an excellent undergraduate tuba and euphonium studio. The successful candidate must be team-oriented and willing to perform with faculty colleagues and ensembles as needed. Completion of an earned D.M., D.M.A. or Ph.D. in music, or an earned terminal degree in a related music discipline, is required by August 2017.
Responsibilities: Duties will include serving as the primary instructor for the Music and Dance Department's major and non-major applied tuba and euphonium students; recruiting and developing an active studio of high-level undergraduate tuba and euphonium majors; performing as a member of the GVSU Brass Quintet; coaching brass chamber music; and teaching classes in brass literature and pedagogy as well as related general music courses dependent upon the successful candidate's qualifications and the needs of the Department of Music and Dance. All members of the Department of Music and Dance are expected to exhibit excellence in teaching in a liberal education environment; be active in performance, research or other creative endeavors; and provide service to the department, college, and university.
