It's that time of the year again! I will have multiple openings for undergraduate euphonium and tuba players in my studio at Central Washington University starting in the Fall of 2017. Auditions will be held next January, specifically on the 20th & 27th (not the 28th). HOWEVER, if you are unavailable during these dates but interested in auditioning feel free to reach out - we can schedule an audition based upon your availability. Music scholarships and housing waivers will be available as well.
The tuba-euphonium studio at Central is comprised of students in a variety of degree programs and concentrations, including music education, performance, and composition. Each student receives an hour lesson each week, as well as the opportunity to perform in weekly studio classes for their colleagues and with the tuba-euphonium ensemble. The studio is also active as an academic club on campus. CWU offers numerous large ensemble performance opportunities, including the CWU Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds and Symphonic Band, as well as the CWU Orchestra. To audition for the music program at CWU, you must first apply and be accepted into Central Washington University, which you can do at the following link: http://www.cwu.edu/admissions/apply-now-0
A quick clarification, I will be unavailable to hear auditions on Saturday January 28th SO those interested in auditioning for CWU on one of our audition dates on campus should aim for Friday January 20th or Friday the 27th.

A quick bump and reminder that CWU auditions are coming up in January. HOWEVER, for those interested in auditioning but unable to make it out in January, you can audition at any time in the Winter and spring quarters - all you need to do is contact me here or via email and we can set up an audition time, discuss the program here at Central, etc.
There are a lot of good things happening here at Central, both in the music department as a whole and within the tuba/euphonium studio! We enjoyed a successful Octubaween studio recital back in October and will be presenting another studio recital in the Spring. The CWU tuba-euphonium ensemble is gearing up for a performance at the 2017 Northwest Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conference in April, and I'm anticipating much of my studio will be competing in the solo and quartet competitions there as well. In the more immediate future, I am VERY much looking forward to hosting Dr. Matthew Shipes of the University of Idaho for a two-day residency at CWU in February. Dr. Shipes will be performing in recital, working with my tuba and euphonium students in lessons, working with the tuba-euphonium ensemble, AND conducting a masterclass (Stay tuned for more info in the coming weeks)!

Just a quick reminder that on-campus auditions at Central Washington University are approaching fast! There are still slots available for tuba and euphonium auditions on both Friday, January 20th, 2017 as well as Friday, January 27th, 2017. We have a supportive and enriching environment here in the music department and I am looking for enthusiastic, hard-working tuba and euphonium students to join the studio.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have regarding CWU or the music department, I am always happy to talk with prospective students.
