The School of Music at Middle Tennessee State University seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#131080) to teach and perform tuba and music theory for the 2017-18 academic year. Rank to be considered for this position is Assistant or Associate Professor. Start date is August 1, 2017.
Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate applied tuba; with secondary responsibilities in some combination of teaching euphonium, coaching brass ensembles and tuba-euphonium ensemble, brass literature and pedagogy, brass techniques, and undergraduate music theory. Continued development of a strong tuba studio; perform solo and chamber music; perform with faculty colleagues, including the MTSU Brass Quintet; active recruiting for the brass program and the School of Music; logistical support of the brass area and ensemble directors; service to the School of Music, the University and the profession; additional duties depend on the individual strengths of the candidate selected and the needs of the School of Music.
