The University of Akron - Tuba & Euphonium studies

Post by CJBlaha »

The tuba & euphonium studio at The University of Akron is looking for more talented musicians to join us. Currently at 15 students, the studio is active in performing and teaching at UA and in NE Ohio. This year, we have extensive scholarship support for euphonium players (both undergrad and masters levels) and scholarships are also available for tubists.

The University of Akron is home to over 22,000 students and offers opportunities to be engaged in the musical communities of Akron, Canton and Cleveland as well as work with the excellent band programs in our area. http://www.uakron.edu" target="_blank
In addition to UA ensembles (bands, tuba/euph ensemble, brass choir, chamber music), students play with area brass bands and have opportunities to develop their teaching chops in private lessons and in assisting with high school marching bands.

Scholarship opportunities for undergrads include music and academic scholarships, as well as an automatic $1000 scholarship for students who play in the marching band. The graduate assistantship for my studio is currently filled, but there are full assistantships (tuition + $7200 this year) for students interested in working with the bands, studying conducting or pursuing advanced studies in music education. All 3 of those avenues allow pursuit of a Masters in Music Performance degree.
