On behalf of Professor Timothy Northcut, I'm happy to announce that the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) has a Graduate Quintet Fellowship available for the 2018-2019 school year! The Fellowship is open to students pursing either a MM or AD (not open to DMA students), and preformed groups are encouraged to apply. Fellows will receive a full tuition waiver and stipend of $8,000. Further details are listed below. The deadline of December 1st is coming up quickly, so make sure to check out the requirements now. Also, feel free to contact CCM Admissions (email on the flyer), or Professor Northcut with any questions. I hope to see you at the audition!

I would like to say a few things regarding this fellowship opening:

1. It is a FANTASTIC opportunity. I performed with the Graduate Fellowship Quintet for my first year at CCM, and I can say that the experience was awesome! You get to work with amazing faculty at CCM many times during the semester, and each offer a unique perspective that enriches your musicianship and chamber skills.

2. This is a strong quintet. We performed some crazy hard music during my time there, including Pictures at an Exhibition, and an arranged quintet version of Mahler Symphony #4! Our 2nd trumpet's girlfriend was a vocalist, so it made for a very enjoyable recital. In addition we performed standards...all the Ewald's, Bozza, Pezel, Baroque, Gabrieli, etc.

3. You will perform A LOT. This is not just a quintet that rehearses and performs once a semester, CCM likes to make use of its quintet for various outreach, and you'll be involved with community functions, in addition to performing a full length quintet recital every semester.

4. The coaching aspect is new...this was something that we didn't do during my time but I LOVE this idea. Coaching chamber music is really great for building your teaching skills, a skill I utilize quite often at Bard College :)

Any questions...feel free to drop me a message. Tim deserves to have a top prospect tubist in this spot.
