The Iceland Symphony Orchesta announces vacancy:

Tubist
Required solo:
V.Williams: Tuba Concerto
Work of applicant's choice

Starting 12 September 2005

Excerpts from the orchestral repertoire will be sent to applicants two
weeks prior to the audition. Application along with resume/CV must be
received by the orchestra no later than 15 August, 2005. The audition
will
be held 7-8 September 2005 [in Reykjavík].

Salary is according to the contract between the Orchestra and the
Finance
Minister. Applications and auditions are valid for one year (according
to
the hiring regulations for orchestra members, article 9). Additional
information is available from the personnel manager.

I only know of a local tubist, Roine Hultgren, a fine player and a good chap.
He is originally Swedish, studied with Michael Lind and is the current tuba professor at the Reykjavík Conservatory.

It would be interesting to know whether anyone from outside Iceland has applied for the job.

Amazing player with amazing abilities and an AMAZING VOLUME! Ice in iceland will melt...Congrats to Tim.
