Re: Presidents Marine Band TubaWhat happened?
"The Tuba audition previously scheduled for Jan. 7-8, 2019, has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled." A butt tuba spelled backwards is still a butt tuba.
Re: Presidents Marine Band Tuba"Just kidding!"
Re: Presidents Marine Band TubaSame thing when I auditioned for the army band. Made finals, and the person who was going to retire changed his mind, and they called off the finals.
Re: Presidents Marine Band Tuba CANCELLEDI'm still retiring next year(wow, that's hard to type!),but the tuba section will be shrunk by one player to allocate that slot to a different section of the band. This move reflects trends in the types of commitments our organization supports.

Re: Presidents Marine Band Tuba CANCELLEDWhat kind of commitments is your organization supporting fewer of??
Just curious... Who needs four valves??

Re: Presidents Marine Band Tuba CANCELLEDFewer? Not sure, but there are more non-tuba commitments popping up on the schedule that necessitated this move. That's about as far into the "inner workings" as I'm comfortable getting.

Re: Presidents Marine Band Tuba CANCELLEDOh, well if you mean the jazz and rock ensembles are getting more gigs than the quintet, that would make sense and we would all understand it. No need to be cryptic....

Re: Presidents Marine Band Tuba CANCELLED
Wow John congratulations on a fantastic career. Where has the time gone? It seems like it was just yesterday when we met at some early DC Auditions and now a whole career has gone by. By the way, i still have the 1st Phil snedecor book you gave me back in the mid '90s when i was teaching at the school of music, i forgot what the event was but you and some others came down with a group for some playing. What are your future plans? Need a job? Tom McGrady
