What happened?

"The Tuba audition previously scheduled for Jan. 7-8, 2019, has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled."

I'm still retiring next year(wow, that's hard to type!),but the tuba section will be shrunk by one player to allocate that slot to a different section of the band. This move reflects trends in the types of commitments our organization supports.

What kind of commitments is your organization supporting fewer of??

Just curious...

Fewer? Not sure, but there are more non-tuba commitments popping up on the schedule that necessitated this move. That's about as far into the "inner workings" as I'm comfortable getting.

Oh, well if you mean the jazz and rock ensembles are getting more gigs than the quintet, that would make sense and we would all understand it. No need to be cryptic....

Wow John congratulations on a fantastic career. Where has the time gone? It seems like it was just yesterday when we met at some early DC Auditions and now a whole career has gone by. By the way, i still have the 1st Phil snedecor book you gave me back in the mid '90s when i was teaching at the school of music, i forgot what the event was but you and some others came down with a group for some playing. What are your future plans? Need a job?
