Glenn Gould School of Music Tuba Opening

The Glenn Gould School of Music of the Royal Conservatory of Canada will be holding auditions for the tuba position in February 2020. The one tuba opening is available for the undergraduate degree program, or the graduate level artist diploma.

The GGS is a professional performance program with a strong emphasis in orchestral training. The program size is limited to instrumental players comprising one symphony orchestra, so only one tuba position is offered. In addition to lessons with me, playing responsibilities include the RCM Orchestra, the contemporary music ensemble, brass quintet, low brass and full brass orchestral repertory classes, mock auditions every semester, and both solo recital and orchestral excerpt examination. Glenn Gould School alumni in tuba and all brass now represent some of Canada’s finest players, performing with orchestras across Canada, and auditioning successfully for many graduate schools, summer festivals, and military and orchestral positions.

All of my Glenn Gould School students have received significant scholarship and financial aid, most often with full funding, making it significantly less of a financial burden when compared to the tuition costs of many other high level music schools.

International applicants are welcome and encouraged. Given the expense and challenges of traveling with tubas, we now also accept recorded video auditions.

Just a quick update that the audition date for the Glenn Gould School will be February 27, 2020. Thanks to everyone who has already applied.

For anyone who is still considering applying for graduate or undergraduate study for next year, a reminder that this is a fully tuition funded degree or diploma at an internationally recognized conservatory. This is a rare opportunity these days, given the high cost of university education in the United states and increasingly in Canada as well.

Also a reminder that video auditions are welcome.
