Tuba TA and Euphonium TA: University of Missouri - Columbia

Post by MG Euph Tuba »

Hi Everyone!

The University of Missouri is going to have two TA opportunities for MM students this coming fall, one each for tuba and euphonium.

The Tuba TA is to rehearse and perform with the Mizzou Brass, the Faculty Brass Quintet. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2OWO_ ... sp=sharing" target="_blank" target="_blank

The Euphonium TA is a conglomeration of various tasks: teaching some non-majors, extra lessons for majors, clerical work for the tuba/euphonium studio, and teaching the tuba/euphonium portion of brass methods. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2OWO_ ... sp=sharing" target="_blank" target="_blank

The tuba/euphonium studio at the University of Missouri is a large, but close knit group (~20 people every semester). The studio is around 2/3 music majors, and 1/3 non-majors, with most of the music majors being music education. The School of Music just opened the new Sinquefield Music Center this semester, with beautiful rehearsal spaces, some classes, offices, and practice rooms, in addition to the music portion of the Fine Arts Building.

Columbia is a quintessential Midwest college town; a thriving downtown scene, a variety of restaurants, and easy to get around. Rent is an excellent deal (at least coming from Arizona).

The TA's cover full-tuition, and the .25 assistantships pay a little over $800 a month for ten months a year.
