I'm happy to try and help you, James. It only takes a few minutes to check the web for your requests, and I often have the spare time late-nights when I'm having a hard time getting to sleep.

Wade hit it on the head, though...you need to learn to be a better searcher. With Google, the trick is really to add more words to get more specific results. If you just Googled "The Ten Commandments," of course you got many hits unrelated to the orchestral suite. Try "The Ten Commandments orchestra" instead and see what you get. I did that, then searched for "Elmer Bernstein" and got his website, which led me to the Themes and Variation site who rents his music.

Did you send them an interrogative email yet? If not, were you really serious about wanting the tuba part to this piece? If not, why are you asking for the help in the first place? It's very disheartening to try and help someone and receive little in return but whining from the person asking for help and several unwanted private messages suggesting various things I can go do with myself.

You must get better at finding information for yourself if you want to survive graduate school. The MUSC 801 course at Kansas (Music Bibliography and Research) course is very difficult, indeed! I'm sure many posters who went to graduate schools around the country can share related stories from their "Intro to the Music Library" courses, as well.

I doubt anyone wants you to stop asking when you have a pertinent question. It's the follow-ups that some folks are growing weary of. People here are nice folks and will help you if/when you need it.

It sure would have helped if i would have known Elmer Bernstein composed it
Nice try, but putting "movie music 10 commandments" yields this link first, which you can click on and see Elmer Bernstein right in the menu bar. The bottom hit on page 1 of such a search even says "Movie Music UK – Elmer Bernstein."

Maybe you are correct...Google certainly isn't your friend if that's really what you put in. Or, perhaps, it's not Google that's the problem but rather your reading of the hits you get from it. I'm speechless and really don't know what to say if you couldn't figure out the composer from that search. I'm more speechless if you didn't realize that finding the composer of the piece you wanted a tuba part for would be step #1.

C'mon, James...what's the real story here?

Gone completely...even from the Members list.

I wonder what username James will use when he comes back?

I totally agree with Wade...someone who gets upset and defensive so easily from criticism and genuine attempts to help is going to have a very hard time realizing a goal to be a university professor.
