Richard Maloof was the tuba player. Dick is now retired from playing and lives in the San Fernando Valley.

Hayes. I remember the crewcut well :D
A fellow, late of here, purchased a Miraphone 186 BBb from Hayes' widow. It was still in its original wooden packing crate.

I found a list of the Lawrence Welk Tuba players:

Buddy Hayes (1954-1966)
Buddy Clark (1966-1967)
Richard Maloof (1967-1982)

Dick Maloof is the only tubist who is still alive.
