Roberts Wesleyan Brass Ensemble

Post by Steve Marcus »

The Roberts Wesleyan Brass Ensemble is credited on a Bay Cities CD #BCD-1011, entitled "American Voices--The Choral Music of Howard Hanson, Roy Harris, and Randall Thompson." It was recorded around 1990 at the First Lutheran Church in Lyons, NY.

The tuba sounds excellent. Who was the player?

Is it Andrew Tucker?

If so, looks like he also played timpani. Odd double...

You found a good resource of much later recordings by the same brass ensemble. But Tucker would have been approximately 14 years old at the time of the recording about which I'm inquiring. Must have been another tubist.

This is just a guess: Ed Diefes?
