I got a DVD of the Chicago Symphony playing Damnation of Faust with Solti conducting. It was recorded in '89. It showed the tuba player and it was neither Jacobs nor Pokorny. Who was it?
ps, he wasn't using the York

Good question, because if it was a 3+1, the player was almost certainly Rex Martin.

Knowing the amount of volume Solti used to like coming out of the brass, it may be his big-*** Rudy 5/4.

They certainly were top action valves. I don't know what kind of horn.
