"Let's Misbehave"

The piped-in music at Olive Garden (uhhh, the "Never Ending Pasta Bowl" is back) consists of a nice mix of Sinatra, Ella, Tormé, Nat "King" Cole, and the obligatory Italian song or three.

While eating lunch there today and listening to that menu of music (sorry for the pun), there was a Dixieland band rendition of "Let's Misbehave." A tuba player covered the bass line and had a great chorus solo. The arrangement was in C Major. The vocalist was NOT Louis Armstrong.

Any ideas of what band this might have been and who played tuba in it?

I actually received a personalized response from Olive Garden, although the answer to my question is still elusive:

We are pleased to know you enjoyed our music, which is meant to be an
added enhancement to the dining experience. Our tapes are made
exclusively for Olive Garden. Unfortunately, legal restrictions do not allow
Olive Garden to use or distribute any of the music outside our
restaurants.

I have reviewed our current play list and I was unable to find a song
titled "Lets Misbehave". Is there perhaps another song title you would

We can recommend the original motion picture soundtrack, "Big Night,"
which is available through Amazon.com. Various artists included on the
recording: Louis Prima & His New Orleans Gang, Claudio Villa, Gary
DeMichelle, and Rosemary Clooney. A personal favorite is the soundtrack
from "What Women Want," which includes Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr. and
Nancy Wilson.

I just watched the movie "De-Lovely," which is basically the life of Cole Porter. That tune is done in the movie, very much like you described, sung by Elvis Costello.

Check out the "Johnny Dangerously" soundtrack. I can't access my copy of the film right now, but it's the opening title tune.

It sounds just like you described...C Major with a tuba solo in the chorus. Unfortunately, the dialogue of the movie starts just about the same time as the tuba solo does.

Does anyone have sheet music for the tuba part?

Justin, you should be able to either learn that "by ear" or transcribe it from the recording easily enough (or have someone take down the notes for you). As you're new to the forum, I'll let you know in a polite way that (if there was a published copy of the sheet music for this) asking for a copy of music to be sent to you for free is stealing from the composer, arranger, publisher, and artist.

Yup, this could very possibly be the recording that I heard. Derived from the soundtrack album, there would have been no dialogue to interrupt the music.
