That one. Anyone have this recording? I wonder if it is Warren Deck?

I have this. I think so. The Dies Irae is in octaves, and sounds really good.
Heard 2 seperate rumors that the 2nd tuba is either:
1. Sam Pilafian
-or-
2. Don Harry
I don't know if either is true.
FWIW, this is not my "goto" recording if I need to study it, but just for all-around listening enjoyment, it is fun to listen to.
"Goto" recordings:
London/Colin Davis is ok, San Fran/Thomas is better IMO, but the best I've found is actually Baltimore/Zinman. Balt is very disciplined, and very together. For example, it is the only recording I have (I have about 6) that plays rehearsal 80-81 precisely together in the 5th mvmt. When I first heard it, I was floored!

I'm not familiar with the Baltimore/Zinman recording. Are you familiar with the Montreal/Dutoit recording? If so, which would you say is the better recording? I'm curious because this Baltimore recording might be something to look into..

So, you're not sure who's on 2nd tuba but are you sure Deck is on first? I have the Muti one with Philadelphia and it is wonderful.

I have Montreal as well. It seems that every recording Montreal/Dutoit put out is extremely clean, and this is no exception. I would say that they are about equal in that regard, but I prefer Baltimore. It helps that Fedderly sounds unbelievable.

It is Sam Pilafian on the New York recording.
