Any idea who played tuba for this one? I thought it was an amazing and fun movie with a great score. The tuba part was pretty extensive with beautiful, lyrical bass tuba playing.

Do you know who's got two thumbs and three valves but didn't play this part.... THIS GUY!

Credits list the Hollywood Studio Symphony, information about which can be found here:

If you click on the last link, it takes you to the HSS homepage with information about particular titles, and who the musicians were that participated in the recording session. While Mr. Magorium credits aren't listed yet, that the HSS performed would at least narrow it down to L.A. or the Bay Area. Based on folks listed on the IMDB page for the movie, though, I'd say it was L.A. Some possible names? Maybe Jim Self, John Van Houten, Doug Tornquist, Fred Greene, Zach Collins, Norm Pearson?

Nope, haven't had a chance to get out and see it. Not much time to get out and do anything lately, so maybe I'll catch it on DVD. Score sure sounds interesting!!

It *was* Jim Self, BTW. Pretty sure he did most of it...

I have the Mr. Magorium soundtrack and just listened to it earlier today. Jim Self sounds great on it! I am wondering what tuba(s) he used for it. Most of it sounds like maybe he used the big YamaYork CC and perhaps the Yammie 822 F tuba for the solos.
Anyone know for sure? :?:
