New World Symphony - Tangazo recording

Post by Billy M. »

Who was the tuba player for the New World Symphony on the 1992 pressing of Tangazo! on Argo?

It was later redone on Decca ELOQUENCE (Australian import) as Latin American Classics.

Conductor is Michael Tilson Thomas.

Right here. I played the entire album on the Alexander 163 CC I was using at the time. That includes Sensemaya, which I now play on F.

You may be interested to know that some of the other players on the recording are Paul Merkelo (Principal Trumpet of Montreal Symphony), Tony DiLorenzo (trumpeter with Center City Brass Quintet and Proteus 7), and Greg Miller (horn with Empire Brass and Professor at University of Maryland). Those were fun times!

To say the very least then, Mr. Knox, I really enjoyed your playing on that piece.

Thanks for the heads up!
