ok, so if you've seen the movie you know what im talking about. the orchestra was AWESOME. who was the tuba player? and for that matter, who was the bass trombonist? geez, i feel like i need to take a shower.

The music was recorded in London. Waited to the end of the movie to see the credit. Great playing, disturbing movie, great movie, but very disturbing on many levels.

I've seen the musical before, so I wasn't shocked by the plot, but, yes, the effects seemed to be completely overboard. I thought Johnny Depp did a good job, but I did not like the job Helena Bonham Carter did. That role was better played in the musical I saw.

agreed. i new a vague outline of the plot but i had forgotten it was rated R. i agree, the affects were a little overboard but i think it was for the shock effect (and they did their job!) i thought really everyone did a great job minus helena even though her character was extremely entertaining.

so the music was done in london? anybody know the bass trombone and tuba?

YES! very much worth seeing. if not only for the orchestra but the movie itself is very good. it'd be a movie worth spending the money to see.

Although Owen's site doesn't list Sweeney Todd just yet (I'm sure it'll be included in a forthcoming update), he does have quite an impressive list of film scores to his credit:
