Warning!!! Tuba geek question follows. So I know Norm Pearson is the tuba player on this recording, but I was wondering if anybody knew what horn he was playing. His yahama? The Thor? Whatever it is, he sounds great on it!

May I suggest that, given your last sentence, your question is moot.
Chuck" it's the player"Jackson

Does it give an exact date for the performance? If the dates on the CD artwork are reasonably accurate (2007/2008), I can almost guarantee it wasn't Thor. My buddy bought that tuba offa him a while back. If it's recent enough, like *extremely* recent, it might even be his Baer.
My vote would be the Yamayork, though. And yes, having heard Norm cycle through several different axes - two Yamayorks and a Baer among them - it *is* the player. However, although it was certainly "him" playing those various horns, there were differences in what was heard out front, as well as what was felt sitting under the bell.

Oh, just had it confirmed that it actually was the Baer on the Sibelius recording, for those of you interested in such things.
Now let's all get back to practicing...
