I am curious to know who played tuba on the 1980 recording of David Del Tredici's wonderful "Final Alice", with Sir Georg Solti, the Chicago Symphony and Barbara Hendricks. From what I can tell, the brass had some pretty meaty parts, although the same can be said of every section in the orchestra. Here's some credits info to work with "Recorded January 1980 in the Medinah temple, Chicago. Producer: James Mallinson, Engineers: James Lock and John Dunkerley." This particular record was from London Records.
Thanks!
Aaron H.

Don't know who played tuba, but I'm so glad to see mention of this wonderful work! I still remember being absolutely "blown away" the first time I heard it. It is certainly a "tour-de-force" for brass, and a very "listenable" example of first-rate contemporary literature for orchestra. Highly recommended listening.

I have that recording and always assumed it was Jake (Arnold Jacobs) playing tuba, but maybe not?
Whatever happened to Cherry Beuaregard (sp), tubist with the Eastman Brass Quintet back in the day??

After further review, the FINAL word on Final Alice is, Dave Fedderly played it!
