and as a big "By the Way" - David Silverman - producer/director/etc. on the show since almost the beginning is a very good Sousaphone player - his flaming "Tubatron" is a regular feature at Burningman, and he plays in several California bands. (He plays much better than some the Youtube clips of him demonstrate ;-)

Simpsons' animator David Silverman to be honored at UCLA animation festival
UCLA alumnus David Silverman, director of numerous episodes of the hit show "The Simpsons," as well as the 2007 feature film based on the FOX series, will be honored as the first recipient of UCLA's Outstanding Contribution to Animation award on Saturday, June 6, at 5:30 p.m. at the James Bridges Theater on campus.
