I am curious to know who played tuba on two different recordings of Mahler's 10th symphony, with the Deryck Cooke completion. The first one is the recording made of the work with Simon Rattle and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. I don't have a date, but it's the only recording those two groups made of the work. The other one is the 2007 recording of the work with Daniel Harding and the Wiener Philharmoniker. I would assume it's Paul Halwax, but I'm not sure if he had joined the group at this point. The Bournemouth recording in particular has a great sounding tuba player on the tuba solo in the 5th movement. Any answers would be great!

Possibly (probably?) Andy Cresci on the Bournemouth.

I think the Bournemouth SO/Rattle was recorded in the 1970s when Rattle was still fairly unknown. The tubist was probably Colin Young. ( If not, it could have been a young Alan Sinclair who later went on to play for Rattle with the CBSO) Andy Cresci joined the BSO in about 1986.
