Wonder Pets

As the father of a 4 year-old, I often get to watch children's shows. One of my daughter's favorites is The Wonder Pets on NickJr. Its actually an interesting show. Each episode is a little mini-operetta, with much of the dialog sung by the characters. Larry Hochman, who has been twice nominated for Tony awards, serves as the lead composer. His compositional influences include Prokofiev, Mahler, Wagner, Richard Strauss, John Williams and, his "jumping off point," Rossini. Quite a few of the episodes feature the tuba quite prominently. The show is produced by Little Airplane Productions in NYC. So, NY-area players...who is it that we can hear in these shows?

Probably, but by no means assuredly. The tracks could be recorded anywhere and sent to post-production wherever THAT happens to be done. It could even be...gasp...synthesized!!!

Could be, but from what I've read, the composers that do the music like to use live musicians; well-known ones if they are available.

well, if its in NY, then i would hazard a guess at it being Alan Baer

I'm pretty certain it's bass trombonist George Flynn. He's a great doubler that also did Lion King for over 10 years. Wonder Pets has been his job since it started.

This is SEWIOUS!!

I did hear the New Orleans episode, and the tuba playing was very impressive.
