1) Is that really even a tuba?

If so...

2) Is the person playing it an actual tuba player? It's hard to tell because they aren't really playing anything...It sounds like they're pushing buttons and going across partials. That and then they did some kind of effect to it to make it sound less...tuba-ish.

That kinda sounds like a tuba player "doodling" around on what seems to be Jabba the Hutt-like stuff... not exactly Jabba the Hutt, but, you know, a doodly version of it..... maybe?

I've always wondered that too! As well as who plays the tuba stuff on SpongeBob.

That sounds digital but I cannot confirm that. If you watch the episode with Ruckus' family, the composer expands on the "Ruckus Theme."
