I just started listening to this opera, and EVERYONE should listen to it for the first 5 minutes just to hear the explosion of sound from the Contrabass Trombone and Contrabass Tuba. Fat notes in the low register that "out sinisters" most anything I have heard before. The rest of the opera is a feast for the ears and has ALOT of tuba in it. Here are the Particulars:
Strauss- Die Frau Ohne Schatten (The Woman without a Shadow) with the Vienna Phil and Chorus, Domingo and Berhens in the starring roles. Solti conducts.

I listened to the first half tonight during my workout. Holy f*&%^^&W &%&t! Herr Strocker and Herr Pisarkiewicz really put the hammer D-O-W-N. What i've listened to so far, sounds like there is a microphone down the tuba bell. Everyone needs this recording. Plus the part isn't easy at all, and it really shows off what an amazing player Ron Pisarkiewicz was.
