Is this Roger Bobo...?

Post by AHynds »

...or someone else?

It's the LA Phil playing Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra with Mehta conducting. I couldn't find a date for this, but judging from the conductor's appearance and the overall look of the film, it seems like it was made a few decades ago. Good performance, and good tuba sound on the recording (which always seems to be a spotty thing with older recordings).

This may be a video from the 70's. But the skill of use of the camera in getting a close perspective of the players, the color and the fine sound are very good. This is one of the better orchestral video productions I have seen. I may have not seen very many, but this one is very good. You can even see the conductor sweat this one out.

Full video of the whole piece (all movements together):

The full brass chorale section starts around 12:40 (in second movement). Seems to have some good tuba parts here and there. :)

@Rev Rob. I agree - the video & audio is very well done on this broadcast :!:
