Hi folks,

I'm looking for any recordings of the Marine Band from the mid 75 to late 1981. I've been through several discographies and can't find much from that time period.

The unit does have an official recording group who I can call but I figured I'd start here! Chances are you guys know everything they know and then some.

I'm particularly interested in finding a recording of Glenn Call playing euphonium.

Regards,

Colin.

I don't know if this will help much in your search, but there is a 10 disc set - titled The Bicentennial Collection - that is a compilation of Marine Band recordings from 1889-1996. Discs 5 & 6 cover from 1955 to 1996. I know it is available from Amazon and some of it - perhaps all of it - seems to be on iTunes as well. I did not see any piece that is on those two discs that listed Glenn Call as a soloist, but I would assume he might be playing euphonium on some of the pieces. I do not know what years he was in the band.

Here is a link to Amazon:

And here is a link to Discogs:

And here is a link to Disc 6 on iTunes:

Hope this helps a bit in your search!

Thanks for the info! I picked up disc 6 and it's pretty cool. Those guys were sharp.

I may have access to some old tapes of Glenn that I was thinking about getting digitized. Sound quality won't be perfect but they are great historical pieces.

I'm a bit of a collector of these kind of things ... if anyone else is interested let me know and I'll see what can be worked out.

Have you looked at the Altissimo website? They seem to have a very complete catalogue of recorded military music (from all over the world.)

Also interesting on their site is a historical description of hundreds of military marches, bands, and etc. - I wish this was around when I was doing my radio show... http://www.worldmilitarybands.com/
