I'm curious as to who is playing on a few Strauss recordings I've been listening to recently:
Alpine Symphony, Chicago and Barenboim, Erato label
Alpine Symphony, Cleveland and Ashkenazy, London/Decca label
Alpine Symphony, San Francisco and Blomstedt, London/Decca label
Also Sprach Zarathustra, Chicago and Boulez, Deutsche Grammophon label

Thanks!

Re: Strauss tubas
Both San Francisco recordings were made with Floyd Cooley, Barenboim with Gene Pokorny, Boulez with Arnold Jacobs, and I'm assuming the two Cleveland recordings are with Ron Bishop

Re: Strauss tubas
San Francisco/Blomstedt would be Floyd Cooley and Peter Wahrhaftig on tuba(s).
Chicago/Barneboim would be Pokorny. I'm not sure who played 2nd. Maybe Scott Mendoker, or Floyd Cooley.
Chicago/Boulez would be Pokorny and Fritz Kaenzig. It's not Jacobs. It was recorded in 1996.
Cleveland/Ashkenazy is Ron Bishop, but I'm not sure who played the other tuba part.
