Was just listening to a recording of Barber's Essays that St. Louis/Slatkin put out in 1989. Excellent stuff. Some good examples of that "big tuba burn".

Who is on these recordings? I have my suspicions.

It could have been Phil Sinder on his Alex. He did a few recordings with them around that time.
