Just saw the new Superman movie. We scored Hans Zimmer's music earlier in the year. The brass section has no trumpets but has eight horns, all doubling tuben, two bass trombones, four euphoniums and four CC tubas. Doug Tornquist played 1st, Bill Roper, 2nd, Gary Hickman, 3rd and I played on the bottom. It was all low and dark. Four nights of pedal tone whole notes was a lot to handle. Surprisingly it fit the moody character of the movie and was quite effective.

According to the same post, Bill Booth, Charlie Loper, Alex Iles and Bill Reichenbach played euphonium.

We saw the movie last night. At times, you can hear multiple tubas, but mostly just a present tuba sound. Does anybody know what instruments were used by the tubists? Back in the 60's and 70's Miraphones were used a lot because of the way they sounded when recorded. I was just wondering what the guys are using today and specifically, what was used on this soundtrack with multiple tubas. Thanks!
