Raiders of the Lost Ark

Post by Tubadork »

Was that Tommy Jonhson,
I watched the movie last night and I hadn't seen it for years and I was totally blown away by the tuba player. The sound was amazing, so was well, everything. i told my girlfriend (clarinet player) that's some fanfreakintastic tuba playing going on and she said "yeah, wow it is!"

I think it was Tommy playing his Mirafone 190 CC.

Tommy played on Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Bobo did the Temple of Doom and Raiders was recorded by the London Symphony, so presumably it was John Fletcher.

Hmmm... are you sure about Roger Bobo playing on Temple of Doom? Sure sounds like Tommy on his 190, and I thought he mentioned having done it when I asked him about which scores he'd used the Daisy Cutter on. Would've been about the right vintage (1984).

Reasonably sure ROTLA was Fletch, and IJATLC was Tommy on his 188...

Ahh... Just had it confirmed that Roger was indeed first call, but Tommy did a couple sessions too...

Bobo did Temple of Doom... from the Horses Mouth.
Yes, this is what Tommy said. He wasn't sure which few tracks he played on that Roger couldn't make, but does remember doing a couple.

Great score, lousy movie!!
