Red Callender maybe? Red states on page 130 of his autobiography "Unfinished Dream" that he did several dates with Billy May for Frank Sinatra on the tuba.
Probably one or the other of Mays' tuba players-----Karella or Callender.
In the link below, check out the BIG NAME brass players in the Mays' band. They were some of Hollywood's finest studio musicians.
