Many of the actors' voices on this recording are familiar from the old Hanna-Barbara animated series, so I would guess Tommy Johnson is the tubist.

The tuba playing on this album is so clean and clear, omnipresent, yet blending with the other instruments. There are a number of passages where the tuba really needs to be agile; not often heard on commercial recordings from the late '50s-early '60s.

Freberg worked almost exclusively with Billy May and his orchestra, including this album. I don't have access to my Jack Mirtle Billy May full discography book right now - maybe someone else has a copy? Google books has a scan but difficult to search.

Jim Buch played tuba for May at times, but he was not the only one.

Red Calendar played Tuba and String Bass on Billy May's score for Stan Freberg's "The United States of America" back in the 60's.

I the late 80's Stan and Billy May made "The United States of America" Part 2. I played both Tuba and String Bass on that recording,

Both are comic classics.
