Rainy Sunday morning in Philly, I'm spinning old Miles & Gil albums.....
If you are not familiar, pull-down,....or better yet, actually purchase, the Porgy & Bess album. Great tuba playing. I have a recording of the master tapes of Buzzard Song, golly what a nice tuba line & solo. There's been discussion around Miles Davis' use of tuba in his bands here in the past, but I thought it was worth another call out,....particularly for Buzzard Song, in case some folks might wanna be exposed. The orchestration on those old Columbia Records recordings of Miles Davis & Gil Evans are just glorious.

Another great Bill Barber moment from Gil Evans. "Struttin' With Some Barbecue" He plays the first head.
