Did Tommy Johnson do any orchestral playing in the LA area during his playing days outside of the LA Philharmonic recordings. If so, are there any commercial recordings of him doing "Classical" orchestral works?

If you goal is to isolate Tommy's sound in an orchestral setting (rather than hearing him double Roger or playing 2nd next to Roger) you should seek out the LA Phil's recording of Dvorak's 8th with Andre Previn conducting. I took a lesson from Tommy shortly after that CD came out and he told me directly that it was him playing on that recording.

He was the tubist for many years with the Glendale Symphony Orchestra which then was made up of many studio folks. I have no idea if there are any recordings but I would love to hear them if so. As a student at USC I had the opportunity to go to several concerts.
