I've recently discovered a really good recording of the Ring Cycle conducted by Fritz Stiedry, and it has an especially good amount of tuba, especially for a live recording from the 50's. I'd like to know any information on who played tuba in The Met orchestra before Herbert Wekselblatt, as I am very curious. Any information on the horns they used would be great as well.

Joe Novotny. He previously played in the NBC Symphony, and in 1961 would replace Bill Bell in the New York Philharmonic. He played a rotary King CC. What.A.Sound.
