Besson Parts

Post by Tom »

Anybody know where I can snag a few sets of those Besson synthetic "felts" with the Besson situation the way it is?

I've been looking for them off an on for a while now, and would really like to purchase a few sets.

Thanks!

With the Besson plant on hiatus for the time being (hopefully not permanently), it will be more and more difficult to find anything new by Besson.

Last time I got a set, Matt W at Dillon had them.
That was about a year or two ago, however.

Thanks for the responses.

I'm aware of the situation with the Besson factory at this time, hence the question.

I have checked with the "usual sources" and nobody has been able to come up with anything yet.

Hasn't Ferree's trotted out their version of synthetic felt? Have you tried Kraus?

When Besson moved from Edgware to Watford a few years ago, many of the spare parts and bits and pieces were acquired by Windcraft in Maidenhead, Berkshire; http://www.windcraft.co.uk/windcraft/index.html

If you go to the Brass Spares section, you are given the option of specifying type of instrument (EEb Bass, BBb Bass etc.) and then model number (981/982, 986/994 etc.) and a list of spare parts (including bell section!) is given.

This might be what you're looking for;
