Shortly before selling my baby grand, my wife put a freshly iced cake on top. In the direct sunlight. Needless to say, the icing melted all over the wooden lid. She decided to "do the right thing" and clean it up before I got home. She used a metal butter knife. To scrape all the icing off. That was now melted into the woodgrain. Yeah. Took a lot of time with good quality wood oil polishes and woodstain scratch removers to make the lid look presentable again, and it was still noticeable in a few spots.

I can send her over to work on your tuba if you want; she isn't having much to do with me since I ordered the silent brass. (actually she hasn't had much to do with me since... never mind)
