Symphonie Fantastique and Ophicleides
Is anyone aware of a modern orchestra performing Symphonie Fantastique using all modern instruments; but replacing the tubas with ophicleides?

I played two full series with the Delaware Symphonywith just such an orchestration. The last time, Jay Krush and I performed it on (supposedly as intended) C and Bb ophecleides.
The Dies Irae sounds very spooky, and the ophecleide on the (now) normally tuba part is very characteristic and much easier to perform. (this was the Music Director's decision, not ours, but it came off much better than I was afraid that the mix of period/modern instruments would)

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?
